Word of Mouth Marketing Vs Traditional Marketing

Word of Mouth marketing has many benefits over traditional marketing methods such as Natural SEO, Pay-Per-Click or Direct-Mail Advertising Campaigns.

One of the main benefits of Word of Mouth Marketing (WOMM) is that we simply trust Independent people, such as friends or family members, more than we trust advertisements.

This is because an advert always project the business, product or service being promoted to be "great", or "perfect", or "ideal" to fit a customers needs. Whereas reality says this may not always be true.

Another reasons consumers simply don't trust traditional adverts is that, generally, they're all the same. A problem is introduced and the advertisements product or service is the best solution to solve that problem, often with generic claims like:

• Dentists recommend that XYZ product makes teeth whiter...

The reality is that, as consumers, any claims about a product or service are generally ignored, not believed or have no influence in making a decision on a products suitability.

On the contrary though, when someone Independent tells us a business they've used, or a product they've tried is great we generally tend to listen.

This is because the person telling us about the business, product or service they've used is not perceived to have anything to gain by promoting that business, product or service.

This makes Word Of Mouth Marketing incredibly effective as a marketing method!
